Early Reading and Comprehension Skills: Breaking Down the Barrier of Decoding

decodable books enough to develop early comprehension skills?
In this FREE webinar, Myland English Hub will unpick early comprehension skills and share practical ways to incorporate these into teaching and the wider environment in EYFS and Key Stage 1.
This session will be of particular interest to those wishing to develop children’s early comprehension skills, as well as those who wish to upskill themselves in giving children the tools and engagement they need to succeed in comprehension activities, regardless of decoding ability.

Year 2 Phonics Practice

5th November 2021

Myland English Hub are offering essential and FREE virtual support to schools at this time, when phonics remains a high priority in Year 2. As we prepare for a Screening Check and work with a COVID-19
recovery backdrop, this session will share practical hints and tips on how best to approach the teaching of phonics in Year 2, as well as advice on keep up interventions to ensure every child has the best chance of success. This session will be of particular interest to schools requiring a high level of phonics teaching in Year 2 classes, who wish to move towards more fluent reading.

Revised Development Matters: Language and Literacy

Myland English Hub are offering a FREE CPD webinar, focused on the changes to the EYFS Framework and what this means for Language and Literacy in our settings. This session will be of particular interest to colleagues in EYFS school based settings and English leads who wish to know more about the changes.
Participants will gain an insight into the research underpinning the changes in EYFS and why Language and Literacy should be at the heart of all settings. There will also be some tried and tested practical ideas for enhancing language and literacy provision in the EYFS environment.

This event will be a three day programme covering practical strategies for speech and language, removing barriers of auditory memory and developing listening and communication skills.

Showcase - Introduction to Myland English Hub

A fully funded** chance to see phonics and early reading lessons in action,
alongside current research and updates regarding phonics and early reading. Audits will also be provided to allow attending schools the chance to reflect on current practice and identify steps for development.
For (but not limited to) schools interested in receiving further, targeted support and funding from Myland English Hub’s team of experienced literacy specialists, who are allocated to schools to ensure targets in audits are achieved and celebrated.

**Headteachers’ attendance is mandatory for schools to receive funding for this Showcase**

Reaching the Slowest Progress 20%

Myland English Hub are offering a research based session offering support and advice for those schools wishing to make a difference in the progress of the slowest progress 20% of children in phonics and reading in their settings. This session will be a chance to work
collaboratively with other schools in devising strategies to raise the achievement and engagement of target children.

Primary ECT Specialist Knowledge Training

This project is designed to support Primary Early Career Teachers (teachers in their first two years of teaching) in developing specialist knowledge for teaching Mathematics, thus enabling them to understand, teach and support pupils in Maths in the classroom.

The SKTM - Primary Early Career Teachers project is fully funded by the Maths Hub Programme so is free to participating schools.
